The Major League Baseball Draft is July 11, and many talented players will be drafted. The top three prospects are outstanding players; Jack Leiter, Jordan Lawlar and Kumar Rocker are the top three prospects.
Jack Leiter RHP Vanderbilt
Jack Leiter is the son of former MLB pitcher Al Leiter. Jack has been dominant at Vanderbilt, pitching 55.1 innings, striking out 94 batters with an 0.98 ERA. Also, Leiter gave up 17 hits and walked 22 batters. Leiter has mid 90s fastball and also throws the curveball and slider. The curveball and slider can both be used to strike out batters.
Jordan Lawlar SS Jesuit High School Committed: Vanderbilt
Lawlar is a 6-foot-2 shortstop with above-average five tools. He has good speed and has experience hitting good pitching with wooden bats; Lawlar has a quick, compact swing and lacks to hit the ball in the gaps. The shortstop must improve his consistency on defense to be a great player.
Kumar Rocker RHP Vanderbilt
Rocker was 8-1 with a 1.64 ERA in 55 innings, allowed ten runs in nine starts this season. He had 81 strikeouts and just 13 walks. Rocker’s velocity was down his last few outing of the season in the low-90s. If he can regain his fastball to go along with his nasty slider, Rocker could be an excellent pick for an MLB team.
